Royal salute

I was pleased to read the item on page 10 of the February issue concerning the Dakota that was previously the personal aircraft of Prince Bernhard. My particular interest in that aeroplane is that I was privileged to marshal it in to a parking spot at RAF Hullavington in 1948 or 1949.1 believe the Prince was visiting a member of the aristocracy in nearby Wiltshire or Glos. As I recall, the aircraft was finished in highly polished silver, but I cannot remember the markings. I don't know whether the Prince was in the left seat or not, but I did give my customary salute towards the cockpit after giving the stop signal.
