Battle of Britain display

With reference to the article by Richard Paver on the diminutive Folland Gnat in the April issue, I thought readers might find the attached photograph of one of the single-seat development aircraft (serial unknown) interesting. It was taken by me circa the early 1960s at the Battle of Britain display at North Weald. [I think it could well have been F.1 XK740, which appeared at the show in 1963 and is now preserved at Solent Sky museum in Southampton - ed] An equally colourful participant at the other end of the size scale was this Blackburn Beverley, although the Gnat would probably fit inside it with room to spare.
