A 1:5 scale model of North American P-51D Mustang 41-3317, the aircraft flown by Capt Donald R Emerson of the USAAF's 336th FS 4th FG, has recently been unveiled at the RAF Museum Cosford's visitor centre. The six-foot long model was built from scratch by retired journalist David Glen as a tribute to US pilots and crews. Following restoration work by Hornet Aviation, Miles M.38 Messenger 2A G-AKBO made its first flight in more than a decade from Sherburn-in-Elmet late last year. Bravo-Oscar won the Kings Cup Air Race in 1954, and made an appearance in the 1964 film 633 Squadron. It will shortly be repainted into its race-winning colours.
