De Havilland Mosquito T.lll TV959 is destined to fly in the near future, following a comprehensive rebuild by Avspecs at Ardmore, near Auckland, New Zealand. "We are into the final stages of system testing," Avspecs boss Warren Denholm told FlyPast. "We fuelled her up on August 12th and have coolant and air systems checked off already. The hydraulics are all operating and most of the electrical circuits have been tested." It's likely that ground running trials will have already begun by the time this magazine is published. Afterwards, the Mosquito, owned by Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection in Everett, Washington, will make its first flight from Ardmore in a basic silver dope finish. The final paint scheme will be applied by its new owners when it arrives in the US later this year. The return to the skies of TV959 will bring the world's airworthy Mosquito population to three. The first of the trio, FB.26 KA114, was also built by Avspecs and made its debut flight from Ardmore on September 29,2012. The second is Canadian-built B.35 VR796 (CF-HML) which flew on June 16,2014, from Victoria International Airport in British Columbia.
