New RAAF centenary display leads changes at Australian museum

The Fighterworld museum at the RAAF Williamtown Aviation Heritage Centre in New South Wales, Australia, has recently created a special display to mark the air force's centenary. The attraction now features a replica of a Sopwith Camel alongside a CAC Winjeel and a Pilatus PC-9 - all three aircraft have close associations with the RAAF's Williamtown-based 4 Squadron. The museum is also close to completing its distinctively painted reproduction of Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII A58-429. The wings have been refurbished and the exhibit is now displayed in a camouflage scheme of foliage green with light grey undersides. It had previously appeared in a standard RAAF Spitfire green-grey livery. A new workshop has been built at the site, and the museum is also hoping to expand its premises in order to better accommodate its varied collection. This will be dependent on raising the necessary funds and sufficient land becoming available.
