A Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt Ⅱ belonging to the Idaho Air National Guard (ANG) has been given a special 'heritage' livery. It now represents an example of its fighter predecessor, the P-47 Thunderbolt. The eye-catching colours were applied at the ANG's Sioux City, Iowa, facility to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 124th Fighter Wing and its lineage to the World War Two-era 405th Fighter Group. The USAF fighter-bomber unit flew P-47 Thunderbolts from the build-up to D-Day until the end of the war.
