ABOVE Photographed at RAF Alconbury, Cambridgeshire on September 24,1983, this 11 Squadron F.6, XS928/BJ wears a low visibility scheme of Medium Sea Grey over Barley Grey. The pilot's name under the windscreen is that of Flt Lt J D Aldington ABOVE 11 Squadron's F.6 XR773/D bakes in the Maltese sun during a detachment to Luqa, in August 1978. The airframe has been 'zapped' by 23 and 29 Squadrons, as well as the Luftwaffe's AG 52, on and around the forward unit marking RIGHT This bare-metal F.6, XS897/S of 56 Squadron, is at RAF Lakenheath open day on August 2,1975. 'Shifty Fix', as it was nicknamed, operated lightnings of different marks from January 1961 to mid-1976.
