On November 16 last year, the Lightning Preservation Group (LPG) and its English Electric icons provided welcome aviation solace as winter drew ever closer. While I was driving down the country lanes towards its home at Bruntingthorpe airfield, Leicestershire, the same old query popped into my head what is it about these events that has the pull to get me there every time, whatever the weather?
