Avenger to be repainted in George Bush colours

A year after its arrival on Ford Island, Hawaii, the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum's Grumman TBM-3U Avenger 91171 is making good progress in the attraction's Lt Ted Shealy Restoration Shop.Built by General Motors in 1945, the Avenger was used as a post-war firefighter, first in the US as N107Z and later as N7858C. It then operated in Canada as C-FBQT before entering long-term storage. The museum plans to finish the aircraft to represent that flown by the late President George H W Bush who completed 58 combat sorties with US Navy unit VT-51. The attraction is also home to a Boeing Stearman flown by Bush during training.
