Great Planes Profile 38

After being exposed to so many ARFs in the .40 to .60-size range, the diminutive box that the Profile 38 from Great Planes comes in seems small. Was I missing another box, bag, etc.? No, just a neatly packed, compact, and complete traditional kit styled after the "Forked-Tail Devil". Opening the box, removing the two rolled sheets of plans and the construction manual, it's easy to see the efficient use of space it took to get this much material in a compact container. The accessories needed to complete the kit include: wheels, spinners, fuel tanks and covering material in addition to the usual choice of engines and radio gear. I chose the OS .25 FX engines to power this plane for two reasons. First, I fly at a grass field, and with all the rain in the recent past, the grass is always thick and tough to plow through. And second, Great Planes says it best in the instruction manual, "...two .15 size engines will fly the Profile 38 well; however, if one engine quits in the air, the plane will not have enough power to maintain level flight... with two .25 engines, the plane can continue flying on one engine." With this information, the smart choice was to err on the side of power, and go for the extra power of the higher performance engines.
