I decided that it would be fun to see what columnists were writing about fifty years ago so I dug into my collection of Flying Model magazines. Ted Strader wrote the "RC Channel Chatter" at that time and a glance through those issues revealed some very interesting things. In the February 1957 issue Ted printed the following memo from Dr. Walter A. Good. "It has come to the attention of the AMA R/C Committee that a dangerous type of transmitter modulation is being used by some modelers. This type of modulation employs a buzzer operating directly into the grid of the crystal-controlled transmitter. The danger is caused by the fact that a buzzer modulated transmitter may radiate on many widespread frequencies in addition to 27.255 mc."
