Hello again, friends. The present generation 2-meter Pattern ships have large-volume "looks like it might be Scale" fuselages that have an obvious aesthetic appeal, and that make them easier to see when flying just a little bit beyond the rule-book 150 meters distance out. (Ahem ...) Desirable as this may be, the evolution to wide bodies, and the last generation of super-tall fuselages, was necessitated by the addition of some new yaw power intensive maneuvers in the FAI Pattern. Rolling circles are demanding enough, especially if and when the rules are followed regarding the maximum distance out from the flightline, but the increasingly complex rolling loops have upped the ante. (Right about now, those of you flying in the Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced classes are wondering, "What has this do with me?" That's a good question; we'll get to it shortly.)
