In the wake of May's British Airways 747-400 near-stall incident, operators of Rolls-Royce RB211-powered Boeing 747-400S must modify thrust-reverser systems by early September to prevent leading edge devices retracting during take-off.rnThe US Federal Aviation Administration, as lead certification authority on the 747, has issued a final airworthiness directive, which the European Aviation Safety Agency has followed up. The AD calls for operators to incorporate an 8 June service bulletin issued by Boeing that recommended changes be made by early September.
