France validates E-3F update

France has completed test and evaluation of its second modernised E-3F airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft, and declared initial operational capability on its Boeing-led mid-life upgrade programme. The Block 40/45 modernisation is the largest update to the French air force's E-3F fleet since the type's introduction. Along with the addition of four more operator work stations, the upgrade adds modern computing systems and communications equipment, improving the aircraft's air surveillance and battle management capabilities.
