Pushback collision spurs vigilance call

Virgin Australia has changed some of its pushback procedures at Melbourne airport as a result of a ground collision in 2013 that damaged one of its Boeing 737-800s and a Jetstar Airbus A320. The 737 (VH-YID) had been cleared to push back from its gate at Melbourne ahead of a scheduled flight to Maroochydore, near Brisbane, on 10 August. At the same time the A320 (VH-VGR) was taxiing to a nearby stand, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) says in its report.
