The people who brought you the world's last Vulcan have a new project: returning an English Electric Canberra to flight. Vulcan to the Sky Trust - the operator of the recently-retired XH558 - will restore Canberra WK163, the UK research jet which flew to the edge of space in 1957, attaining an altitude record of 70,300ft. Since her retirement in 2007 the aircraft - which has "holder of the world altitude record" written on her nose - has faced an uncertain future. But the plan is to return her to the air show circuit in time for the centenary of the Royal Air Force, in 2018.
