Fuel probe fault behind ATR engine's flame-out incident

Investigators believe a fuel-tank probe fault led an ATR 42-500 to depart with an incorrect fuel-quantity indication, resulting in its starboard engine flaming out after take-off. The turboprop, operated by Danish Air Transport, had been operating a 17 March flight which involved flying Billund-Esbjerg-Stavanger and back. It had originally refuelled at Bil-lund before commencing the journey, at which point its cockpit indicator had shown there was 3,340kg (7,360lb) of fuel onboard. But after taking off from Esbjerg on the fourth and final sector - the domestic link to Billund - the aircraft's right-hand Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127F engine flamed out at 1,000ft.
