Innovation meets collaboration in PPE procurement

Historically, individual FRSs around the UK have procured their own PPE, liaising directly with manufacturers to specify, trial and select their own kit. However, in recent years, we have seen a movement towards greater collaboration in procurement, with FRSs identifying a number of benefits of working together to purchase PPE. The advantages for the Fire Service include time and cost savings associated with simplifying the procurement process, taking advantage of volume discounts, and ensuring optimum performance through more robust and vigorous testing procedures.
