Many in the fire protection industry have dreamed of the Utopia of a truly single market, certainly in terms of Europe and perhaps even beyond. One-stop testing has long been a goal, particularly of manufacturers who face different, costly and largely repetitive testing processes for the respective countries into which they sell. Despite the fact that the advent of the European Union and the introduction of supposedly common ISO international standards has brought about a degree of harmonisation, it does appear that 'Vive La Difference' remains a regular refrain.
