We have it so much easier, to travel ,to exchange ideas,torncommunicate. Through the Internet we can communicate instantly and learn from each other. Those means of communication and collaboration and conferences are invaluable as we confront our common enemy - fire - and the destruction of life and property, and as we devise strategies that can prevent that destruction.rnOne of the great frustrations that all of us feel is that we know that so many cataclysmic events could have been prevented so easily. The technology is not complicated, and it is not controversial. We understand how well fire sprinklers work and we have understood that for decades. But nonetheless, the lack of political will and the exercise of political and economic power against safety have stopped the application of sprinklers in many places where they arernneeded.
