Crowd control

Safety is top of the agenda for all responsible, forward-thinking organisations. Those which fail to assess their exposure to all types of risk to employees and the public at large can, and indeed often do, end up paying an enormous price which never manages to recompense for loss of life. The Kings Cross fire and Hillsborough case histories vividly illustrate how traditional systems can fail with disastrous repercussions. In the case of Kings Cross, people could have been directed, via the PA system, to stay on the trains leaving the station. At Hillsborough, greater crowd control could have been employed by means of relatively simple communication techniques.
