As soon as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order hit the statue books in England and Wales back in October 2006, the Government made clear that it would review the new legislation after an initial 'bedding in' period.rnThat review process is now under way, with Communities and Local Government (CLG) leading a research project to evaluate the effectiveness of the Fire Safety Order and assess how well it is working.rnStill a 'hot topic' nearly two years after it was introduced, the Order consolidates more than 120 pieces of previous fire legislation, and takes forward the process of fire risk assessment and self-compliance first seen in the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1999. It seeks to simplify the obligations of both those responsible for fire safety in all premises other than domestic dwellings, and those who enforce fire safety law.
