'Hope For the best, plan for the worst' is an old adage, and one that is particularly true for the fire and rescue community. It has always been important for organisations of all kinds to plan for emergencies but, given the broad range of modern-day threats, the need to prepare for major or even extreme events is now a critical activity. 'Resilience' and 'business continuity' are no longer just buzz words, they are vital cogs in any corporate machine.
