The welsh Government has marked September 2013 as the date for introducing regulations requiring all new and converted residential properties in Wales to be fitted with sprinklers. Environment Minister John Griffiths said work will now begin to develop the regulations and supporting technical requirements. The draft regulations will be subject to public consultation before they are finalised. According to the Government, the move will prevent an estimated 36 deaths and 800 injuries from fires in the home between 2013 and 2022.
