Completed in 2010, the International Commerce Centre (ICC) in West Kowloon has 108 floors and stands 484m in height. It is the tallest building in Hong Kong, and the world's fourth tallest by height and second tallest by number of floors. During the recent Fire Asia conference - reported in this column last month -myself and other delegates were given a briefing on the fire safety engineering concept for the centre and taken on a tour of the building. According to building regulations in Hong Kong, commercial high-rises that exceed 25 storeys must have a refuge floor, with the same provision repeated every 25 floors.
