West midlands fire authority has warned the government that further funding cuts could put the public and firefighters at risk. The stark warning was issued by the Authority's chair John Edwards following a meeting with Fire Minister Brandon Lewis, at which the Minister urged the need for greater flexibility and decision-making in setting the amount of money the service raises through council tax. Councillor Edwards believes that any additional funding cuts will put lives, properties and frontline firefighters'jobs at risk.
