Quicker response capabilities, increased security, uninterrupted response during construction, and retaining existing on-site maintenance facilities - these were just a few of the driving forces of the design for Snohomish County Fire District l's new Fire Station No. 21. The drive-through apparatus bays servernas the central axis for the station, placing design emphasis on surrounding circulation and direct crew response from anywhere in the facility Parking, access and training/meeting rooms are designed to incorporate both secure crew spaces with public "community front-porch" areas.
