Rice Hull Ash (RHA) is produced from a renewable biomass - rice hulls, through combustion in steam or power generation processes. Properties and performance of rice hull ash depend on different ways they are combusted and processed. RHA directly from Agrilectric's unique combustion system without further processing is highlighted by:rn1. Highly amorphous silica, with low crystalline silica, low carbon contents and low metal oxides contaminants (Table 1);rn2. Porous and individual "micro-filter" structure (Figure 1);rn3. Particulate powder material with mean particle size around 120-150 μm;rn4. Low bulk density, easy to be suspended in air or liquid (Table 2);rn5 Chemically inert and neutral pH (Table 2);rn6. Excellent filtration performance characterizedrnby highly permeable, incompactible cake struc-ture, good cake deliquoring property, and efficient suspended and dissolved solids and or-rnganic compounds removal capability;rn7. Absorption capability: 65-80% liquid absorptionrn8. Excellent heat insulator with high melting point.
