China has shaped a comprehensive optical fiber communication industry, covering optical fiber, optic communication equipment, optic source and detecting appliance and opto-electronic apparatuses. About 80 percent of the optic communication products needed for the domestic market are produced in China. Modern Chinese communication equipment producers like the Shanghai Bell Co., Datang Telcom, and Huawei Technology have attained advanced world levels.
