After decades of neglecting the coastal eco system, the government is suddenly enforcing environmental regulations with a vengeance. An ill-conceived coastal regulatory zone notification forbids on-shore activities within 500 metres from the high tide line. This means that no port, ship building, repair or breaking yard can be set up near the coastline. Where else could such facilities be set up?
