Charter rates in the beleaguered midsize categories are showing an erratic performance these days with very firm forward fixtures of higher-spec vessels on the one hand and weaker figures for immediate prompt tonnage on thernother. On a positive note, it was reported that niche carrier Nile Dutch secured two Wenchong types of 1,740 teu off mid-2008 positions for two years' employment at $ 18,000 per day. One is a newbuilding, the other one a charter extension.
