Steady rates for feeder box ships

Fortunes in the container ship charter market have been temporarily reversed, with rates for feeder and Handy container ships trending steady for some weeks now, whereas Panamax and post-Panamax designs continue to be squeezed. ConTex index-type 1,100teu and l,700teu ships have been trading in the charter market at about mid-$5,000 and mid-$6,000/day respectively over the past few months as buoyant fixing activity and a shrinking tonnage list supports rates.
