Former Comanav chiefs arrested over 'plot'

The financial crisis now paralysing Moroccan ferry company Comanav-Comarit took an unexpected turn in mid-June when former Comanav chairman and chief executive Taoufik Ibrahimi and five other people were arrested and taken into custody by local police. As Fairplay went to press, the six, who included two former Comanav executives and the general secretaries of the dockers' and seafarers' unions of the Union Marocaine du Travail (UMT), were due to get a first chance to challenge their detentions at a hearing before a court in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, on 2 July.
