The United States is not generally perceived as the likely home of a market-leading equipment sector but in at least one area it is at the very forefront of technology. A country that once set speed records in ship construction, the US has seen its capabilities diminish to the point where its current orderbook puts it well down the league in terms of ship numbers but in a surprising 12th place in terms of deadweight.
