Korean ballast management system gets IMO approval

The IMO has granted basic approval for the Electro-Clean ballast water management system developed by a South Korean bio-venture company. At MEPC 54 in March, the IMO Committee granted basic approval to two ballast water treatment systems: Korea's Electro-Clean system and Germany's Peraclean Ocean. This approval made two products the first'active substances'to move on for more extensive land and shipboard tests.
