Vessels registered in the Russian International Registry of Ships can now have surveys conducted by Bureau Veritas (BV) following an agreement between the French classification society and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. The agreement covers delegation of the right to conduct surveys and to issue statutory certificates for all the normal IMO international certification. Now that BV has full delegated statutory authority, a shipowner on the Russian International Registry, whether using BV class or not, can get all its statutory certificates from the French society without having to obtain case-by-case authorisation. The owner applies direct to BV and is invoiced by the society.
