In these days of an internet-connected world most people are familiar with virtual walkthroughs and simulations of hotel rooms and holiday resorts. Now similar ideas are being applied to shipping for far more practical and cost-effective reasons.rnThe technology, called Return to Scene, was developed by Aberdeen-based R2S and has recently been adopted by Bibby Group's offshore shipping outfit Bibby Offshore and by the Bluestream Group in the Netherlands. It is already widely used in the offshore industry on fixed platforms and installations.
