It is only to be expected that the world's media would give the greatest publicity to those results from a study on shipping emissions in Californian waters that highlighted the beneficial effect of emissions reduction regulations. Last month that was exactly what happened after the study by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was published in a scientific journal. In May 2010, a NOAA research aircraft flew over Maersk Line's Margrethe Maersk about 40nm off the coast of California.
