Kongsberg wins Ocean Rig turnkey offshore simulator contract

Kongsberg Maritime has won a contract from Ocean Rig UDW for a turnkey offshore and navigation simulator at a new ocean rig training centre. International offshore drilling contractor Ocean Rig owns and operates two ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rigs and nine ultra-deepwater drill-ships, including three newbuildings set for delivery through to 2016. "All the vessels operate with key Kongsberg technology including dynamic positioning; thruster control; integrated control and automation; safety, fire and gas, and riser management systems," said a Kongsberg spokesman. "Four of the drill-ships have integrated navigation solutions from Kongsberg."
