摘要

Hoardings (the typically blank construction fences or boarded-up walls around urban construction sites) traditionally have been a necessary evil, something to satisfy the safety inspector and contain debris or possibly to mask the chaotic jumble of materials and equipment of construction. Occasionally a designer becomes involved and the hoarding takes on artistic overtones with paint and graphics. For a special setting in Tokyo, the international design firm Klein Dytham went beyond the usual and the artistic to create a living, growing green wall around a building in construction designed by the acclaimed Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
