Parrots in paradise

The Parrot Jungle and Gardens Theme Park offers visitors a resplendent zoo, live shows and a lush tropical garden housed within an array of new facilities located at the gateway to downtown Miami. The theme park was built on Watson Island, a 35ha manmade spoil created by limestone fill that had been dredged out of the ship channels at the Port of Miami during the first half of the 1900s. The majority of the island measures only about 2 to 2.5m above the saline water table.
