A soft housing market

Evidence shows that fabric structures were the oldest forms of housing. Throughout history, they have been adopted in one form or another by different groups of people living in a variety of environmental conditions. The tent form was ideal for nomads because they were lightweight, mobile and adaptable. However, the "modern nomad" doesn't need a tent as living quarters have become more permanent wherever we happen to be or go. Twenty years ago, I wrote a student thesis on the potential of fabric structures in housing. The focus of that report was to demonstrate that the "overall performance" of housing could improve with the use of architectural fabric structures.
