Acoustical fabric updates arts facility in Toronto

Built more than 20 years ago, the Toronto Centre for the Arts’ underused main theater neededupdating. The solution involved reducing the overall size and upgrading the systems to create a moreefficient facility.Designers of the retrofit, Diamond Schmitt Architects, brought Eventscape into the project to engineer,fabricate and install over 3,000 sq. ft. of an acoustical backlit panel solution that wrapped the theaterwalls and proscenium. An unusual chevron design of alternating diffusing and reflecting backers withintegrated lighting provides a system that solves both acoustic requirements and allows nearlyunlimited options to create programmable light shows.
