NZ's new anti-piracy legislation only for peer- to-peer file sharing

InternetNZ says it has obtained clarification from the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) that the intention of the Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Act 2011 Is to cover copyright infringement by online file sharing using peer-to-peer protocols only. After a long and tortuous process New Zealand's Parliament in April passed the Bill that puts in place a 'three strikes and you're out' regime for those breaching copyright online. The legislation comes into force on 1 September.
