The deal comes hot on the heels of a similar one with NTT in Japan, announced earlier this week. Optus announced in May that it would use the technology for its mobile device security service, and last year KDDI America announced that it would use the product. Telefonica will initially rollout the service in the UK, Germany and Spain but it expects to extend to other markets in later phases. The service will provide anti-virus, anti-spyware, data back-up, remote lock-and-wipe, device locate and parental controls.
