Wi-Fi Alliance to absorb WiGig Alliance

The WiGig Alliance was formed in 2009 to fulfil a similar role for new wireless LAN technologies designed to provide throughput of several Gbps. Now the two organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that calls for a period of diligence and planning with a view to the Wi-Fi Alliance absorbing both the technology development activity and WiGig assets by the middle of 2013.
