摘要

Compared to other global economies, Europe is far from providing the best environment for starting up and running a company, says a report by the International Finance Corporation (IFC, a subsidiary of The World Bank). The 'Doing Business' report was unveiled on 25 June at an event organised by Eurochambres. According to the report, the European Union ranks 34th out of 178 world economies (countries and selected cities) included in the survey. First place in the rankings, signifying the easiest conditions for business, is occupied by Singapore, with the United States coming in third. Furthermore, conditions vary widely across the European Union, with some member states making entrepreneurs' lives much more difficult than others. While Denmark comes fifth and the UK sixth in the global rankings, Greece comes in at No. 100.
