Sea transport must be less polluting, says EP committee

The European Parliament's Committee on Transport believes that the integrated maritime policy, which the European Commission intends to put in place, is "not ambitious enough". In a report by Willi Piecyk (PES, Germany), adopted on 8 March in Brussels, MEPs call upon the Commission to strengthen its action. The report is a response to the communication and action plan presented in October 2007, which details the measures that the EU executive intends to take in order to set up a genuine maritime policy at EU level.
