Regions worried about EP vote on cross-border health care

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) have expressed their concerns about the vote in the European Parliament on the proposed cross-border health care directive. The EP vote took place on 23 April in Strasbourg. The CoR and CEMR had recommended that the MEPs vote in favour of a general system of prior authorisation. "We fear that a system without such a system will create inequality in access to health care. That is not the way we want to pursue for the European Community," said the Danish CoR-rapporteur, Karsten Uno Petersen.
