Final warning on sub-standard landfills

Thursday, 16 July, was the deadline for implementation of the 1999 directive on landfills and the European Commission has every intention of enforcing this cutoff date. It has written to all the member states to remind them of their obligations and to issue a final warning: those not in line with the directive may be taken to court.
